Sketchcrawling in Rochester NY.......

I am super excited. There is going to be a sketchcrawl in my town!!!! If you are close come join us.

St.Croix 2008

I was able to go down to St.Croix again, this time for my little brothers 30th b-day. We had such a great time!! Here are a few sketches from the trip.

on the way back

The scans a bit dark on this one...a little sketch on the plane ride back from the new store today. I was sitting on the bench seat across from Mark. You sure do get spoiled flying in a private plane. I am sure tomorrow's commercial flight in the cheap seats will definitely be different!!

Today was only the second time i've gotten to fly on the plane it so it's really more of a novelty than anything. I have to say not wating in the security line, walking right on the plane and being in the air in less than 5 minutes is so cool.

stones

This is the small wooden dish I have on my nightstand that has a bunch of stones in it. I got these years ago and they've always ended up next to me. Thank goodness I kept the sheet of paper that told me what each stone was and what it meant, or I'd have no clue.

Everyday in May #6-found stuff...

There's this walking path, track thing at work. On my walk during lunch the other day and saw this off the path. So i "picked" one. Careful, they have little spiky things down the stem.

Everyday in May #6-my meeting

Don't adjust your screen :) it is green paper. They had it on a table at the training and I could not resist grabbing a piece.

Everyday in May #5

Everyday in May #4

Everyday in May #3

lost some color in the scan but don't want to mess with it right now...

Everyday in May #2

I didn't think I was going to get one in this evening after getting home from happy hour, making dinner and going to the bookstore. So I picked a "simple" lemon. It took a bit longer than longer than I thought but i am happy w/ the outcome.

the new chair

McDonalds.....

I sat on lunch in the car, drawing, with my sketchbook across my body. Hated what I ordered and realized again why I don't eat there......except for the fries of course!

My first book bind

This is my new sketchbook and first sketchbook I have ever bound. Of course now I want to bind more. After the first you have so many ideas of what you can do. Initially I used inexpensive coverstock in case I royally screwed up. :) I am trying a new size out also. I went a little larger this time. I found the moleskine was a bit to narrow. This is 7" x 10". Bound on the long edge (so it fits in to a new leather cover) I will probably use it most in the landscape format. It has a nice two page spread with minimal breaks when you open it. I am trying out Arches 90lb CP this time. So we'll see how that goes.

Gear shifter

Orange Peels

the first quarterly development meeting of the year, one of a few sketches..i may finish adn post the other tomorrow.

the blues...

went for coffee after dinner and there was a trio playing the blues...the lead on guitar, one playing the harmonica and another playing the washboard.

i think this tree is almost dead....

Spring may have sprung...i hope

the sky seams a little washed out from the scan...maybe it's the screen?!?!

WC pencils

playing around with watercolor pencils and some found objects

I wasn't sure about posting this but I am, to tell you about the singer I went to see the other night. I was drawing partially under the table (i was in front) and as you can see her hand came out all sorts of crazy. Back the singer, her name is Teagan Ward and she is awesome.
It was an acoustic show (which I LOVE). She sounds a bit like Patty Griffin (so I am told), old Jewel(less twangy). I guess I cant put a great person on it. I just saw that you can check her out on itunes. She also writes all of her music. Well, I guess that's it for the plug.

Waiting in the airport...

doesn't it always feel like your waiting aorund in airports lately?? this is what my view was while waiting for another delayed flight.

Burger and rings

I feel like i have been stagnant for WAY too long. It's seems as though i've been busy everyday for the past three weeks. So here's some catch up posting. Oh, I even ran out of time to finish the burger. :)

Lunch sketch

This looks scrtachy here. not so much in my sketch book. Maybe I'll have to try and scan again when I have more time.

WC pencil class

One of my watercolor pencil class paintings.

Peeler

This is seriously the BEST peeler ever. If you hate apple skin you should get this! You can peel it in a single piece. It's really fun too. I guess you can use it to peel other stuff but I haven't tried yet.

Waiting sketches

A few sketches done while waiting....i'm glad I keep a small sketchbook in my bag. It makes the time go bye quickly.

My Orchid

Watercolor pencil class

It feels like I haven't posted (or drawn) in forever. I am taking Kate's watercolor pencil class. I figured I'd post those exercises. It's definitley different working withe WC pencils.

Candle

100!!!

This is my 100th post!!!!!
The tupperware that my lunch had been in was sitting on my desk. So why not sketch it after I ate. (Oh, it's not really tupperware but you know what I mean. It's like when you xerox something :)

socks

Oranges

EDM #153- i think...

After uploading the sketch I realized that this really isn't in wrap but on it. I guess I'll try to find something in wrap. For now i post this.

EDM #92 Brown Paper Bag

Apple

Had an apple so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I've been trying to do a few sketches of the same subject in different ways. This is one of the tries. I'm working on finding my style I guess. Sometimes when I draw I get to a certain point, like the drawing , want to try something but don't so I won't "ruin" it. Now that I know I'll try it more than once I feel like I can .

EDM #93 Egg carton

The first sketch in my new watercolor moleskine. I've been carrying it around for two weeks waiting to draw in it. I hate that first page of a new sketch book. Glad it's passed :).
