January 18 in Canandaigua

The Rochester Sketch meet up group mt down in Canandaigua Saturday. Well three of us did and had a great time. Started in the coffee shop of an antique store then had lunch and sketched in the Mexican

restaurant up the street then stopped at one more antique store, this time just to browse. What a great way to spend the day.

Here are the first four spreads in my new book. These were done on the Canson Bristol paper. I really like the weight of the paper and it seems to handle a wash well, though i have done anything too wet.
I am finding a tiny amount of bleeding with my pen which doesn't happen on the 90lb Canson Foundation Series WC paper but i am not giving up on it yet :)

Did a few more sketches last night ( not post worthy ) and the next paper up is the Mi-Teintes paper (brown tone).
Hoping to have time tonight or tomorrow to sketch on that.

Last Saturday in Baltimore

We were in Baltomire last weekend and i had quite the productive Saturday sketching.

I did these (painted the domino one at home since i drew it while sitting in Chipotle waiting for everyone to finish their food.

I have 3 un-scanned pages ( not post worthy :) ) and one more double spread i have to paint.

II International Urban Sketching Symposium- Lisbon

I cannot begin to describe what a fantastic experience i had at the Urban Sketching Symposium in Lisbon. I had the opportunity to meet so many amazing people from all over the globe. All of us sharing the same passion for capturing the world around us.

I got to see so many different styles of sketching, learn new techniques not only from the workshops but from the artists around me.

One of my favorite things was being able to see other peoples sketch books. Throughout the workshops and lectures and down time people swap sketchbooks. The amount of inspiration i got from that is immeasurable.

Well, as you can tell i loved everything about it and I haven't even talked about how beautiful the city was.

So, here are my sketches from the first few workshops. There is a following post with the remaining workshops sketches as well as the one i worked on during the 32nd World Wide SketchCrawl.

I stopped to sketch on the way to Meg's show tonight. The trees in the darkness caught my eye. I added the color when i got home that night.

Playing with the new pen again and with the red onion that's now starts to sprout.

Below is a random little sketch while I was waiting. As I wrote I LOVE the Quin Gold. The scan does not do it justice at all!!

08 October 2010- There's no place like Gnome...

We've got this gnome in the den. He just hangs out in the corner and was begging to be drawn. I didn't have all the lights on which is why he has a stump for on arm. I didn't know you could actually see his hand.
Oh, also tested out my new Hero M86 pen on this and the next bunch of sketches. The more i use it the more i like it. you get such a variety of line widths from one pen. This is what the pen looks like.

Boulder Coffee sketching

I went to Boulder for a bit to sketch. One is looking out at the building across the street. It has two billboards on top that angle back towards eachother. the other sketch is of this sacred heart lamp that hangs from the ceiling. It was still light out so it wasn't on.
