The littlest things
You know how every once in a while you do a sketch and it's one you really like? Well this is not much of a sketch in the sense of size , detail etc. But this is one of those sketches....
I was at friends house helping out with her son's project and did this quick while he worked.

10.16.10-2
08 October 2010- There's no place like Gnome...
We've got this gnome in the den. He just hangs out in the corner and was begging to be drawn. I didn't have all the lights on which is why he has a stump for on arm. I didn't know you could actually see his hand.
Oh, also tested out my new Hero M86 pen on this and the next bunch of sketches. The more i use it the more i like it. you get such a variety of line widths from one pen. This is what the pen looks like.

St.Croix 2010- and this is my 300th post
It's been two years since I had been to St.Croix and how it was nice to go back. Two weeks of rest, relaxation and great weather.
AND... this is my 300th post... wow, i can not belive how time has gone by. I've been a little lazy this past year but have plans to change that. I am intent on giving myself more sketching time and have also signed up for the sketchbook project. Check it out here - http://www.arthousecoop.com/projects/sketchbookproject once all of the books are turned in they go on tour!!! I can't imagine how great it will be to go to one of the locations and be able to look at over two thousand sketchbooks....IN PERSON.... i better give myself a few days :)

Boulder Coffee sketching 1 of 2
pinapple and the new pen
My GF went antiquin with her mother last week and bought me a great old shaeffer fountain pen... it happen to have a cartridge in it still and i was able to find replacements for it. Being so excited about a new pen i decide i am going to draw with it. It writes well has a great line and nice weight (all this for only 2 bucks) now...the only thing is that the ink as you can see is not water proof. So the parts of the pinapple i did get to sketch (had to cut it up before i could finish) obviouslt bled and ran. I do not mind i but had i done the whole thing it would have been a mess. Now all i have to do is find a converter so i can fill it with some noodlers.

Boulder Coffee sketching
I went to Boulder for a bit to sketch. One is looking out at the building across the street. It has two billboards on top that angle back towards eachother. the other sketch is of this sacred heart lamp that hangs from the ceiling. It was still light out so it wasn't on.

Rochester Sketchcrawl 03.27.10
Saturday was the Rochester Sketchcrawl. We started inside the library but with the sun shining we took to the streets. Walked over to St. Mary's and Washington Square park. Which has a stature of Lincoln...huh.....there were 5 sketchers and one photograhper. Not a bad turn out for March. Hoping to have some of the other sketchers sketches posted at the Rochester Sketchcrawl blog ( http://rochestersketchcrawl.blogspot.com/) check it out.

Immanuel Baptist Church
Vegas
I took a trip out to Vegas for a trade show a few weeks ago. Here are the sketches from that trip. Drawing faces are a new thing for me. In the past the only human head you saw was from behind. Using pencil to try and get over that. It's a slow process but i am starting to feel a little less scared :) .
