I didn't think I was going to get one in this evening after getting home from happy hour, making dinner and going to the bookstore. So I picked a "simple" lemon. It took a bit longer than longer than I thought but i am happy w/ the outcome.

McDonalds.....

I sat on lunch in the car, drawing, with my sketchbook across my body. Hated what I ordered and realized again why I don't eat there......except for the fries of course!

My first book bind

This is my new sketchbook and first sketchbook I have ever bound. Of course now I want to bind more. After the first you have so many ideas of what you can do. Initially I used inexpensive coverstock in case I royally screwed up. :) I am trying a new size out also. I went a little larger this time. I found the moleskine was a bit to narrow. This is 7" x 10". Bound on the long edge (so it fits in to a new leather cover) I will probably use it most in the landscape format. It has a nice two page spread with minimal breaks when you open it. I am trying out Arches 90lb CP this time. So we'll see how that goes.

went for coffee after dinner and there was a trio playing the blues...the lead on guitar, one playing the harmonica and another playing the washboard.

i think this tree is almost dead....

WC pencils

I wasn't sure about posting this but I am, to tell you about the singer I went to see the other night. I was drawing partially under the table (i was in front) and as you can see her hand came out all sorts of crazy. Back the singer, her name is Teagan Ward and she is awesome.
It was an acoustic show (which I LOVE). She sounds a bit like Patty Griffin (so I am told), old Jewel(less twangy). I guess I cant put a great person on it. I just saw that you can check her out on itunes. She also writes all of her music. Well, I guess that's it for the plug.

Waiting in the airport...

doesn't it always feel like your waiting aorund in airports lately?? this is what my view was while waiting for another delayed flight.

I feel like i have been stagnant for WAY too long. It's seems as though i've been busy everyday for the past three weeks. So here's some catch up posting. Oh, I even ran out of time to finish the burger. :)

Peeler

This is seriously the BEST peeler ever. If you hate apple skin you should get this! You can peel it in a single piece. It's really fun too. I guess you can use it to peel other stuff but I haven't tried yet.

Waiting sketches

It feels like I haven't posted (or drawn) in forever. I am taking Kate's watercolor pencil class. I figured I'd post those exercises. It's definitley different working withe WC pencils.

EDM #92 Brown Paper Bag

Apple

Had an apple so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I've been trying to do a few sketches of the same subject in different ways. This is one of the tries. I'm working on finding my style I guess. Sometimes when I draw I get to a certain point, like the drawing , want to try something but don't so I won't "ruin" it. Now that I know I'll try it more than once I feel like I can .

Quarterly Meeting

This meeting was especially boring...so I sat and sketched as I usually do. My co workers next to me always try to figure out what I am drawing before I am done. I did this in black and white then added then color later. I scanned it first, just in case the color didn't work so well.

Bottom of my closet

I sat on the floor last night after a frustrating day and started to draw this. I'm not super ecstatic about the results but the act of making it made the day end well.

Leaf

I went out to the car during lunch the other day since it was so sunny out. This leaf has been stuck in my windshield wiper for over a week. It makes a annoying noise as it hits the windshield. But I have not moved it, I think I'll just wait to see how it falls out.

My desk chair/ EDM# 30

This is what my desk chair usually looks like. A pile of (sometimes folded) laundry on top. I've been trying to keep it clear but somehow it doesn't work. I don't like putting my clothes away every day and the apartment is so small there's no where else for it to go. So tonight it serves as the subject for my sketch!

7 things about myself

1. I am overly protective about my writing /drawing utensils....everyone knows it too!
I take them to and from work with me and get oddly uncomfortable when people try and use them. In my defense, they are fountain pens and the nibs can be temperamental/sensitive. :)

2. I make songs up all the time. About anything or nothing. I usually use the music from an existing song that I've heard or thought of and change all the words. Even if I try not to sing , i catch myself doing it.

3. I did a 400 mile bike ride from Montreal Canada to Portland Maine. It was one of the most amazing things ever.

4. I started swimming so I can try a triathlon. Crazily I would love to complete an iron man.

5. I've always wanted to drive cross country.

6. I LOVE chocolate and have no problem eating some first thing in the morning.

7. I move about every two years...so much so that I have never been called for jury duty. I guess they can't keep up with me. (of course now that I have said that you all know I'll get a letter next week...) :)
